Why internet is required

A tutoring session needs the network because the thinking and the listening both happen server-side:

  • Speech recognition — your voice is sent to a cloud service to be converted to text
  • AI tutoring — the tutor's replies are generated by AI models running in the cloud
  • Voice synthesis — the Premium voice is generated in the cloud and streamed to your device; the free voice runs on the device itself, but the words it speaks still come from the cloud
  • Progress tracking — learning data is written to our servers as you go

Without an internet connection the app cannot start a session or teach.

Tips for the best connection

  • Wi-Fi is recommended for the most stable experience, especially during longer sessions
  • Mobile data works well in areas with good coverage — sessions use a moderate amount of data
  • Avoid very weak connections — if your signal is unstable you may see delays
  • If your connection drops, the app shows a banner and the lesson waits. It picks up again on its own when you are back online. Only if the connection fails while the tutor is mid-answer will you see an error — then just speak or type again
